CITY OF BANGOR
The steel bulk cargo steamer CITY OF BANGOR was built in 1896, and later refit to handle automobiles. With a load of 248 shiny new Chryslers, the vessel struggled in a vicious Lake
Superior storm and piled up on rocks off Keweenaw Point, Mich., on Nov. 30, 1926. Some of the cars went overboard, but the remainder were parked on the shore waiting to be retrieved.
