Festival of Sail in Duluth

July 15, 2025

Elmer Engman, our Duluth correspondent, reports on the Festival of Sail.  Duluth hosted the Festival from July 10th through the 13th.   Normally it is every three years but because of the sea wall rebuild it has been six years since Duluth had the last Festival.

The nine sailing vessels on display were:  PRIDE OF BALTIMORE II, ALLIANCE, INLAND SEAS, WHEN & IF, LIBERTY CLIPPER, ABBY ROAD, ST. LAWRENCE II, ZEETO SHIP and the schooner CHARLEY.

The two other vessels open for tours were the museum ship WILLIAM A. IRVIN and the retired Coast Guard Cutter SUNDEW.

The new addition this year was a high tower for high dive competition.  It looked a lot harder climbing up the 65 feet than coming back down.   The water temperature in the harbor was 72 degrees.
