Rawley Point from the Air – Wreck One

August 23, 2025

By James Heinz

As my bio below states, I fly a Cessna 172 airplane.  One of my favorite trips is to fly along the shore of Lake Michigan. If the water conditions are right, I can see the remains of shipwrecks in shallow waters along the coast.  This year the water conditions have been right, and so here are aerial photos of one of the wrecks of Rawley Point, north of Manitowoc, and part of the Point Beach State Forest.

It appears to be a wooden sailing ship.  It is located north of Rawley Point. There are an estimated 12 identified shipwrecks and 10 unidentified shipwrecks off the Point. If anyone knows which ship this is, please let us know.
