Tom Wenstadt, our Door County correspondent, reports that the USCGC SEQUOIA (WLB 215) arrived at the Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding yard, yesterday, June 6th, 2025 and will be docked in one of the FBS floating drydocks for underwater repairs.
The USCGC SEQUOIA (WLB 215) was built in 2003/4 by Marinette Marine Manitowoc Marine Group for the United States Coast Guard to serve a buoy tender on the Great Lakes. The vessel’s home port is Port Huron, Michigan.

Tom Wenstadt, who lives in Sturgeon Bay, is a retired marine engineer, having worked in the Great Lakes area for thirty-seven years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technological University and is the author of Freighters of Manitowoc.
