Hennepin unloading stone at Muskegon, Michigan

The HENNEPIN is shown unloading stone at Muskegon, Michigan, date unknown. In
1927, she was hauling fill to build Chicago’s lakefront. “Much of the gravel hauled to
Chicago on the Hennepin was used as fill, becoming the bed for the Outer Drive,
Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Adler Planetarium,” according to the Michigan
Shipwreck Research Association. Photo Credit: Great Lakes Marine Collection —
